Yes, You Should Procrastinate
Yes, You Should Procrastinate
By Shane Sauer
Did you have a nice Thanksgiving?
I really enjoyed the time off and the opportunity to spend it with my friends and family.
Personally, that time was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on 2021 and to begin thinking about what I want to happen in my life during 2022.
With tomorrow being December 1st, now is the right time for you to start planning for next year, too.
So, what do you want to change in your life as you enter 2022? Do you want to...
Be healthier?
Be more active?
Have more free time?
Spend more time with loved ones?
If you really do want to change things, it’s best to get started and not leave it to the last minute, right?!.
Well, not exactly…
You can actually create a lot of cool ideas when you procrastinate on a project. But there is a right and a wrong way to do this.
To help you get ready for the new year, try this:
IDENTIFY a meaningful change you can make.
WRITE down a few ideas for making that change.
STOP and set the notes aside.
RETURN to the note one or two more times over the next few weeks.
CHOOSE one idea early enough before the New Year to have time to prepare.
ENACT the plan and be willing to adjust as you go.
This is the right way to procrastinate. You should start a project and then put it away while you’re in the middle of it. This will unleash your creative subconscious, sparking new and innovative ideas.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I started my planning. I’m now letting the creative juices simmer for a bit, but I expect you might hear from me again soon about my plan.
Now get started thinking about your plan. And if you need some help getting it started, contact me and we can explore some initial ideas together!
